Take Back the Night

Come show your support, share your story, and get educated.    Help Broward College Take Back The Night!

"Take Back the Night" is a global movement dating back to the 1970s, originating as grassroots protests and marches to reclaim public spaces and demand safety for individuals. Over the years, it has evolved into a worldwide movement dedicated to ending sexual violence and human trafficking and supporting survivors.

Rooted in a deep dedication to creating safe and supportive environments, Broward College stands united with survivors, advocates, and allies to raise awareness, foster solidarity, and honor those affected by sexual violence. In a demonstration of solidarity and to provide vital support for students and the Broward College community, representatives from the local police department, fire rescue, the Pembroke Pines mayor’s office, Women in Distress, Quest2Freedom, and other community support agencies will be in attendance.

Participants will engage in a series of activities, including ending panel presentations participating in a unity march with student-designed signs, honoring victims through a candlelight remembrance ceremony, and sharing comments and thoughts during a community open mic.

This event is a collaboration between Broward College’s Department of Safety, Security, Emergency Preparedness and Student Activities, Student Life, and Academic Affairs.
