The Best of All - Broward College Symphonic Band

Join the Broward College Symphonic Band as they present music selections that are significant to wind band literature. The concert's program will include Fantasy Variations by James Barnes, subtitled: On a Theme by Niccolo Paganini, a set of twenty variations based on the famous theme of Paganini's "24th Caprice in A Minor" for solo violin. Also on the program will be "Second Suite in F" by Gustav Holst, considered one of the cornerstones of the band repertoire. The program will also include a fairly recent band work by Dr. Chandler Wilson, former assistant director of the Broward Symphonic Band and current Assistant Director of Athletic Bands and Assistant Professor of Music Education at Florida State University entitled Ascension, which is based on an exercise students performed when auditioning for a leadership position within the FSU Marching Chiefs Drumline, know as the "Big 8".
