Jazz in the Spring
The Jazz Program at Broward College includes student jazz combos and the Big Band which is a combination of students and community members.
The vocalist featured jazz combo presents traditional Blues, R&B, and Jazz standards while the instrumental jazz combo performs various contemporary small group Jazz, Latin, and Funk arrangements. The award-winning Big Band is conducted by Broward College alumnus, Professor Waldron Dunkley, and performs everything from classic arrangements and compositions by artists such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington to contemporary style arrangements by composers like Roy Hargrove and Herbie Hancock.
Students in the jazz ensembles represent Broward College at various community events throughout the year. The jazz ensemble concerts provide a vital service to Broward residents. These live performances also help shape our current students into the next generation of world-class performers and inspire others to take their own musical journey.
