About This Event
How have blacks fared in Florida since the Civil War? Why is the poverty rate so much higher among blacks in Florida when compared to that of other groups including Hispanics? What tools have been used to enforce black poverty and economic dependency on whites? How has Florida treated black students compared to white students before and after the 1954 Brown Decision? How has anti-black violence been used to oppress blacks in Florida? Using photographs and images some of them very rare, these are but a few of the questions that Dr. Marvin Dunn will cover in his workshop. Educators especially will gain new knowledge about the challenges and successes of African Americans in Florida.
